12th NOVEMBER 2011 FULL DIARY INCLUDING A RECEPTION FOR HMS TALENT

ANOTHER FULL DIARY OVER THIS BUSY WEEKEND I LOVE IT

ARBORETUM

Our first engagement this morning was a visit to the Arboretum in Staffordshire with our visitors from our twin town of Zutphen. Below is a pictorial of our visit.

The Arboretum is a very emotional place to visit, I would say to anyone who has never been there, should at some time in the future take time to do so. We will be going back and spend a full day there. There is also very good facilities on the site, the food is good and the guides are very helpful. It covers a very large area.

We then had to leave our friends from Zutphen and return to Shrewsbury for our next engagement.

RECEPTION FOR  CREW OF HMS TALENT

We always give a reception whenever the crew of HMS Talent visit Shrewsbury, as HMS Talent is affiliated to Shrewsbury. This weekend they came to town to take part in our Remembrance Sunday Parade, Service and Wreath Laying.

We entertained them in the Round Room at Shrewsbury Castle.

CIVIC DINNER FOR OUR ZUTPHEN FRIENDS

The evening was taken up with a Civic Dinner at The Wroxeter Hotel. We had a fantastic meal and the Town Clerk Helen Ball engineered a quiz for us all to take part in. It was to test what everyone had learnt about the town since the visit started on Thursday. I have to inform everyone that Tricia the Mayoress got the top score. I never knew she knew so much about things on this visit that we had not visited due to other Mayoral duties. It was all great fun and the evening went down well.

Below is a pictorial of the evening with pictures of our Zutphen friends receiving some gifts from the Twinning Committee that I was more than happy to present.

The evening gave everyone a chance to relax and just talk amongst ourselves and learn more about our twin towns. The Wroxeter was a fantastic venue and we were looked after really well by all the staff.
