WE HAVE TWO ENGAGEMENTS TODAY ONE IS AN AWARDS CEREMONY ANT THE OTHER IS A DOUBLE RETIREMENT PRESENTATION AT THE MAYORS PARLOUR IN THE GUILDHALL
A DOUBLE RETIREMENT ONE IS ONE OF OUR CIVIC MACE BEARERS, THE OTHER RETIREMENT IS OUR DEPUTY MAYORS OFFICER
This afternoon we attended the Guildhall to meet with our Civic Mace Bearers where one of them was retireing after over twenty years service. The other to retire was our Deputy Mayors Officer who had also gained over twenty years service. Gordon of Mace Bearer was handed a certificate and some gift vouvhers, Trevor the Deputy Mayors Officer also had a certificate and a gift voucher for Salop Leisure as he has a caravan in Wales and it was thought he would make good use of something from there.
Although Gordon knew he was getting a certificate and a gift Trevor did not and his face was a picture when I called him out of the group to present him with his gifts. We then talked about various past Mayors to see who could remember their first Mayor etc. After a few drinks and some food they made their way home a happy bunch. I am still looking for the collective for a number of Mace Bearers.
Below pictured is Gordon receiving his certificate and vouchers
Above Trevor collecting his certificate and voucher a surprised person he sure was, he was also a happy chap.
These are the people who you will always see dressed in black with tri pointed hats and carring silver maces and the Civic Sword at all Civic Parades. Without their commitment we would not be able to continue our centuries old Civic Parades.
Tonight we attended The Lord Hill Hotel for the Red Cross Volunteers Awards presentation where I was handing out the awards. I have to say I am always surprised just how much voluntry woork the British Red Cross carries out throughout our county.
Below is a pictorial of those awards, please enjoy.
