I HAVE COVERED TWO ENGAGEMENTS WE CARRIED OUT OVER TWO DAYS AS I AM STILL PLAYING CATCH UP WITH MY BLOG, WITH ONLY A SHORT TIME BEFORE MY MAYORAL YEAR COMES TO AN END I WISH TO BE UP TO DATE BY AT LEAST THE TIME WHEN MY TERM ENDS
Tonight is my final charity raising event of my term in office. It is the 100 Brass and Voices concert in St Chads Church. Half of what we make will go to the St Chads Restoration Fund the rest to my Smal Grants for Small Groups Mayoral Fund.
The evening went really well and it had really good write ups afterwards. The Shrewsbury Brass Band (Sabrina Brass Band) teh Friday Singers, The Shropshire Youth Girls Choir and The Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir gave the entertainment free and the venue was given free. A glass of wine or juice was handed out at the interval and that was our only cost so the profit money will all go to these two great causes.
I would like to thank the band and choirs for giving us a fantastic nights entertainment, St Chads for helping us to stage the event and the girls in the office for all they did. As all I had to do was get the booze and turn up and enjoy the evening, and that is what I did, the Mayoress really enjoyed the night and it was fun just to relax and spend time listening and then networking with our guests. So a big thank you to all most of all to those who paid for their ticket and supported us on this special night. Thank you.
Today we travelled down the A49 to Hereford for the annual Mayors Civic Service, this year it was held in the Cathedral, what a lovely place for your Civic Service to be held in.
The day was very wet, it raine hard on our journey down there and it rained even harder when we started the parade through the streets to the Cathedral. After the service we walked back to the Guildhall this time in dry but cold conditions. There was food laid on and we had the chance to talk with many of the guests. We have always had a strong bond with Hereford and long may it continue.
Once everyone had been fed and watered it was time to make our way home and you guessed it the rain came back so we had heavy rain driving back up the A49 home. It was a nice service and the people were great, but it was really sad about the weather.
