23rd MARCH RECEPTION FOR FRENCH STUDENTS PLUS AN EVENING AT THE THEATRE

GUILDHALL RECEPTION FOR FRENCH STUDENTS IN THE MORNING FOLLOWED BY AN EVENING AT THEATRE SEVERN WALKER THEATRE WITH THE SHREWSBURY YOUTH THEATRE ‘CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE’ BERTOLT BRECHT

RECEPTION IN THE GUILDHALL FOR FRENCH EXCHANGE STUDENTS

This morning I had the pleasure of meeting and holding a reception for a number of French students who were here on an exchange visit with Shrewsbury 6th Form College. I am pleased to say that their English was better than my French, so I was able to explain a little about the English Town Mayor and how it differs from that of the French Mayor, I also gave them a short talk about the history of the town and that followed by a visit to the Mayors Parlour and me showing them our silver collection. I also got dressed into my red robe so that they could take pictures of what an English Mayor in his robes looked like, this caused some laughter when they saw what I had to wear.

They had other visits to make and after a short while they had to leave I think that they enjoyed their reception and I hope that they learnt a little about our Civc role and the Town Council.

WALKER THEATRE WITH THE SHREWSBURY YOUTH THEATRE ‘CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE’ BERTOLT BRECHT

This evening I attended the Walker Theatre at Theatre Severn to watch the Shrewsbury Youth Theatre put on a production called Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht.

Set in the Russian Civil Wars I along with all who attended  really loved the quality of the acting and the set that we saw before us. I know that I was entertained fully and the time went really quickly.
