2nd MARCH 2012 WOMENS WORLD DAY OF PRAYER

St JULIANS CHURCH IS THE VENUE FOR THE WOMENS WORLD DAY OF PRAYOR, WITH MALAY STUDENTS FROM CONCORD COLLEGE GIVING THE READINGS

Women’s World Day of Prayer is a global, ecumenical movement of informed prayer and prayerful action, organised and led by Christian women who call the faithful together on the first Friday in March each year to observe a common day of prayer and who, in many countries, have a continuing relationship in prayer and service.

The service is written by a different country each year and that country then becomes the focus of the world’s prayers on the day itself. The first service of the day will take place on the Island of Samoa and the last service will take place on American Samoa. From the time that dawn breaks over the Island of Samoa until the last services of this special day, the world is circled in prayer for 36 hours.

Women's World Day of Prayer logoThe symbol of the Women’s World Day of Prayer was designed in 1982 for the service prepared by women of Ireland, both north and south, and was then adopted as the International Logo.

The design comprises arrows converging from the four points of the compass, four figures kneeling in prayer, the Celtic cross and a circle representing the world and our unity through all our diversity.

I have copied the above off the official web-site Womens World Day of Prayor. Please click on the following link to go to their Web-site and see and learn more. Thank you: http://www.wwdp-natcomm.org/index.asp

POEMS AND PROSE ABOUT MALAYSIA

This years Theme was about Malaysia, having Concord College on our doorstep with many Malay female students made this service that much more personal. Thats how I felt and I know that Tricia the Mayoress felt that way also. This was my second Womens Word Day of Prayors that I have attended and I have learnt so much from them both, yet this year after talking to the young students about Malaysia I felt I had a better understanding of their own problems past present and future.

Once again St Julians hosted this service and I always feel that there is something special going on when you sit in this lovely church listening to what is being said, today was even more special and an honour to be at this service, being a male within a mainly female environment dedicated to females around the world.

Pictured above Tricia the Mayoress and myself talk about the service and on how impressed we were with the young students who gave the readings.

The above says it all and I do hope that you go onto their website and follow the link to their vidio that explains the problems so well.

We then had to leave as we had our weekly team briefing session with our Mayoral secretary back at the Guildhall.

After our meeting I we dropped Tricia off at home and I went about my normal Council business meaning even more meetins, this time regarding my role in Public Protection and Environmental Enforcement.
