FIRST ENGAGEMENT OF THE DAY WAS TO THE RELAUNCH OF THE UPLANDS NURSING HOME AT OXEN
We arrived at the Uplands to what was my first visit since it had been built. I had been part of the Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council Planning Committee that allowed the Uplands planning permission in I think 2007. So it was really nice to have the chance to see if in my opinion that decision was right or not. Well I am pleased to say that I now know that the planning committee got it right. The Uplands is a fantastic care home and everyone staff and residents are all like one happy family with the visitors made to feel at home. The Uplands is part of Marches Care and is a family run care home with family held traditions.
We had lunch and talked with both staff and residents as well as once again meeting visitors that I knew from my time as an engineer. The meal was really great and afterwards we did have a tour of the whole site. The building has been designed with the residents needs first and costs were not spared to ensure that their goal was achieved. It is tasteful and yet practical, it is relaxing yet able to be run like a 5 star hotel, I have seen a lot worse 5 star hotels when compared with what the Uplands have on offer.

We then had to make a move as we had a Mayoral meeting back at the Guildhall. Our weekly staff meeting plus other office bound duties.
SECOND ENGAGEMENT WAS TO THE HIVE FOR A PRIVATE VIEWING OF ARTWORK
We look forward to our visits to the Hive as they seem to put on events that push boundaries as any form of art should do and tonight we were the guests of our friend Svetlana Elantseva who is a very good Russian artist that over the past two years we have come to know and we both like her art.
Tonight was no different she and two of her friends put on a display that was well received by all who attended. Their art made people engage with each other, and soon people who had never met before were talking together like old friends, the atmosphere was friendly and the time past way to quick and soon it was time for us all to go home. If you get the chance to see Svetlana’s work then please do so.
Below is a preview of Svetlana’s art that I have taken from her Web-Site. Svetlana’s use of colour is so vibrant and has to be seen in person as pictures do not do her work justice. Tricia is a great fan of Svetlana and it is great just being around the two of them when they are together as the energy they give out is unreal.
Svetlana Self Portrait
I just picked these out of many that are in the gallery on the web-site so please take time to have a look.
